During the Lomi Lomi massage, I will use long, flowing strokes to massage different areas of your body simultaneously. The unpredictability of the touch can help your mind to calm down and enter a deeper state of relaxation. I primarily use my forearms, with pressure ranging from soft to firm. Many people compare the sensation to ocean waves gently rolling over the body.
Lomi Lomi comes from Hawaii and is closely tied to the island’s culture. I’m trained in the Temple style of Kahu Abraham Kawai’i, who brought this form of massage to the Western World. In the past, this type of massage was only for priests and was part of initiation ceremonies. It was supposed to have purifying and strengthening effects and was used to help with transformations.
In our session, we’ll embrace Aloha, which means love, kindness, peace and mutual respect. It’s a refreshing way of massaging aiming to connect deeper with yourself and your surroundings. A Lomi Lomi massage is a ceremonial journey. We work with an intention and a Pule, a Hawaiian prayer.
While the massage can feel intimate, it is not an erotic massage and there will be no sexual acts of any kind.
